Wise Money Week is a week of activities and events celebrating the importance of good money management and providing financial education designed to help us all become more wise about money. The Week will offer programs, classes and activities for all members of our Jacksonville community, all ages and income levels, during the week of May 11-May 17, 2014.
On Monday, May 12 a kickoff breakfast was held at the University of North Florida. Among those speaking was Kristie Kemp, Principal of San Jose Elementary, a school participating in Junior Achievement this week as part of Wi$e Money. With a large percentage of English for Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) students, JA lessons are important to students at her school because, “Many of these children are the voices of their families,” Kemp said.
The Week will impact 3,100 students in Duval County when they are taught Junior Achievement lessons by volunteers at John E. Ford Elementary, Oak Hill Elementary, Tiger Academy, San Jose Elementary, Joseph Finegan Elementary School and Mandarin Oaks Elementary School.
