It was a full house on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Florida Blue’s Conference Center for $mart Women Make Change!, Junior Achievement’s annual event to benefit its JA Girl$ program. JA Girl$ teaches girls and young women ages 8-18 about personal finance, entrepreneurship and workforce preparation so they have the knowledge and power to lead successful lives.

Coca-Cola racing family member Danica Patrick served up inspiration as keynote speaker. “I never thought to try to be the best girl driver,” she said. “I was just taught to be the best driver.”

Three Junior Achievement girls, Lily Paternoster, Sabrina Saintil and Payton Logan, served as emcees of the event and participated in a Q&A with Danica.

On what it’s like to be a girl racing in a male-dominated world, Patrick said, “I don’t know any different. I don’t know what it’s like to be a guy.”

Patrick encouraged the girls to “find what it is you really love…then find out what makes you unique.”

JA Girl$ has impacted more than 16,000 girls and young women in Jacksonville since its inception in 2006. Thank you all who came out yesterday to support our mission and help us continue our impact!
