Today marks the start of the 4th Annual Wi$e Money Week presented by Family Foundations, a week full of activities and events celebrating the importance of good money management and providing financial education designed to help the community become more wise about money.
Junior Achievement has once again partnered with Family Foundations to bring “JA in a Day” to the following schools:
- April 27: R.V. Daniels Elementary (Update: Read blog post)
- April 28: Tiger Academy; Oak Hill Elementary
- April 29: Greenland Pines Elementary; Mandarin Oaks Elementary
- April 30: Mayport Elementary Coastal Sciences Academy
- May 1: San Jose Elementary
We will reach nearly 2,000 students this week alone with our financial literacy programs!
A kickoff breakfast was held at the University of North Florida University Center at 8:00 a.m. with remarks from Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown. Our president, Steve St. Amand, represented Junior Achievement on stage and thanked the community for supporting JA and the young people we serve.
Lauren Butler, Community Development Manager at SunTrust Bank and JA Board Member, introduced the Wi$e Money Week essay contest winners who will each receive a college scholarship funded by SunTrust!
This week alone will see 30,000 hours of volunteer support through all of the Wi$e Money Week activities planned. JA of North Florida is proud to partner and offer our programs to schools who we would not otherwise reach!
Interested in teaching a Junior Achievement class? We offer a variety of ways to get involved in addition to the “JA in a Day” format being taught this week. Visit our website to learn how you can get involved!
